DO YOU STAND BY YOUR FRIENDS ?

May 15, 2012

I have a friend that I fish with often. We travel together, fish tournaments together and have lunch about once a week. We fish against each other A LOT. We razz one another about how big or small our fish are and who may win or lose to the other. We occasionally disagree but remain friends. He has made a few mistakes in his lifetime that have cost him dearly. As a result of these mistakes, many who claimed to be his friend before, will no longer speak to him or associate with him. I choose to remain as a friend. I tactfully tell him when he is wrong, praise him when he is right and be there for him to talk to when times are tuff. But above all else, I have stood by him.
He recently went through another trying time and I have tried to reinforce the value of his relationship with God. In the book of Psalms, Chapter 34, verses 4-7, it is written “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them”. If God can sacrifice his son for a world full of sinners, I can surely stand by a friend in trouble. How about you??
